What we do on a daily basis has a huge impact on our health. Day after day of stressful activities and a poor diet will of course affect our bodies negatively. The good news is that eating clean food and taking the time to care for our body on a daily basis will have profoundly positive effects.

Managing your stress well and implementing self-care routines into your week can dramatically improve your sense of calm and wellbeing, which in turn improves your health. Make time for you and make it a priority, I promise that you won´t regret it!

Imagine your future self and start making the necessary changes to become that person

This is a great way to motivate yourself to commit to making changes. Start by imagining how you would like to see yourself in 5 or 10 years time. How do you look? How are your energy levels? What are you doing? What does your day look like? What sort of activities are you doing?

In order to become that person, what do you need to be doing every day right now? What routines and good habits would you need to be practicing so you can become your future self?
When you do this exercise you can also include your kids. Imagine them healthy, with strong immune systems that resist frequent colds, as active and happy. And again, what do you need to be doing every day so they can become their healthiest, best selves?


Often the daily routines needed are a little less glamorous than the picture we paint of our future selves. But it is these exact daily routines and habits that will get us where we want to be.

Choose two practices and make them non-negotiable for one month

Choose two self-care practices and make them non-negotiable. This could be a 20 minute walk every day, making yourself a daily smoothie, going to a weekly yoga or Pilates class, having an Epsom salt bath twice a week to detox, or it could just be getting up earlier and having time to yourself before the kids get up.

When you imagined your future self, what kinds of activities were you doing? Start now, in whatever small way you can, small changes always lead to big changes. The key is to choose two practices and to be consistent.

Do what makes your soul happy

This might sound like a cliche, but it works. No one ever regretted spending more time doing what makes them happy. Whatever activities make you feel alive,  connected and inspired are great activities to be doing. These are often the times that bring a great sense of peace and calm as well. It is when we are in this zone that we can access our inspiration and intuition and feel at peace with ourselves.

Because we are all so wonderfully unique, this will look different for everyone. It could be being in nature, being close to the ocean, writing, painting or creating, decorating, gardening, running, travelling. It could also be as simple as getting up early and watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee. The important thing is to take time out of your daily routine to do something that inspires you and that brings a sense of peace.

Once again, this doesn’t need to be a big thing. Find small windows of opportunity in your day to make yourself happy.

What you choose to spend time doing today and each week, will affect the rest of your life. Make your health and your happiness a priority today. :-)
